About

My story

This page is about me.

My primary school was at All Saints, a village near Axminster in Devon. I passed the eleven plus and so was able to attend Colyton Grammar School. My favourite subject was Chemistry. By Colyton Grammar standards, I did fairly poorly in my GCSEs. So in 1960 I got a job at Barclays Bank at Chertsey.

In 1964 I joined the School of Radiography at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital, and got married in 1966. I became a State Registered Radiographer In 1967 i became a Junior Radiographer in the Radiotherapy Unit. By 1968 I was a Technician in the Medical Physics Department, where most of the work involved electronics.

I stayed there for 18 years gaining an ONC and HNC before leaving to form Photonic Systems Ltd. The company became unviable, so in 1991 I closed it down and joined the Medical Physics department at Torbay Hospital.

I retired in 2004 and since then the Raspberry Pi has become available, and it makes a great hobby to keep the little grey cells working!
