Using the ESP8266 Arduino Board.
So I took the plunge, and shelled out a tenner or so and bought one. I also bought a USB cable to connect it to my Pi. At about that time I realised that the USB pinout of the ESP8266 was not standardised, there were at least two other plug/socket arrangements for the ESP8266. Shortly afterwards I realised that the connector I had obtained for my ESP8266 could be inserted in two orientations since it did not have a polarised plug/socket configuration. This was simply rectified with a couple of dob s of white paint. Having overcome these irritating facts of life I moved on.
